Farms in Brest Oblast have begun digging up sugar beets. This was reported to a BELTA correspondent by OJSC "Zhabinka Sugar Plant."

"Farms in Brest Oblast have started harvesting sugar beets on September 1. These are agricultural organizations from Lyakhovichi, Kamenets, Baranovichi, Drogichin, Pinsk, Stolin, and Zhabinka districts. Before the plant launches, which is scheduled for September 5, it is necessary to stockpile about 30,000 tons of sugar beets," the enterprise said. In other words, the sugar beet processing season will start at the plant on September 5.

The central site will receive sweet root crops from fields located in Zhabinka and Kamenets districts, while peripheral beet collection points will receive supplies from the other districts. The plant expects a total harvest of approximately 1,150,000 tons. This volume will be enough to process beets until early January. The produced sugar will then appear on the shelves of domestic stores, and as orders come in, it will also be shipped abroad.

Thirteen districts of Brest Oblast and two districts of Grodno Oblast supply beets to the Zhabinka Sugar Plant.
