
Individuals in Belarus have sold $1.61 billion more foreign currency than they bought since the beginning of the year. BELTA reported this to the press office of the National Bank.
Individuals in Belarus remain net sellers of foreign currency. As of August, on a net basis they sold $274 million. The total volume of foreign currency purchased by the population in cash and non‑cash form during the month was $1.183 billion, while the amount sold was $1.457 billion.
Companies – residents of Belarus – were net buyers of foreign currency in August. Over the month they purchased foreign currency worth $190 million more than they sold. The total volume of foreign currency bought by legal entities in August was $3.283 billion, while the amount sold was $3.093 billion.
Overall, from January to August, the net sale of foreign currency by individuals amounted to $1.61 billion, while the net purchase by legal entities was $895.3 million.
