We continue our series on the construction of an overpass between Kolesnikova and Ratomskaya streets in Minsk. The 381-meter structure will connect the Frunzensky and Central districts, intended to ease traffic in this part of the city. What is happening at the future construction site right now?

November 2025

— Design work is currently underway. The first preparatory stage is already being prepared for examination in the near future. The overpass structure will undergo expert supervision to accelerate the construction process. The goal is to complete the facility within the next year. Accordingly, both design and construction work will proceed in stages, — said Alexei Govorko, director of UP "Minskengproject" during the project discussion chaired by Minsk City Executive Committee Chairman Vladimir Kukharev in November 2025. At that time, the agency "Minsk-Novosti" reported that it would be a 380-meter span structure made of prefabricated reinforced concrete.

As of March 17, the site near the intersection of Kolesnikova and Masyukovshchina streets is fenced off, with heavy equipment already positioned there. Pedestrian traffic from Kolesnikova Street to the market (through the tunnel under the railway tracks) is organized along the fence via a specially built concrete path. Preparatory work is also underway at the market itself: eyewitnesses report that some pavilions have already been demolished at the future construction site, with work continuing.

— For now, work is organized during daylight hours, but we plan to transition to round-the-clock operations in the future. The overpass length is approximately 290 meters including approaches, interchanges, and modifications to the entire engineering and transport infrastructure. All the work is clear, and we plan to add additional equipment soon to increase the speed of construction. We expect to begin erecting the first span structures by late May or early June, — Sergey Panev, director of "Gordorstroy," told the "Minsk-Novosti" correspondent.

The publication notes that main traffic on the new overpass will be organized with three lanes in each direction, with the number of lanes increasing at intersections depending on the priority of each direction.

An Onliner reader sent fresh photos from the overpass construction site. According to him, work is proceeding quite actively. Despite this, a pedestrian passage from Kolesnikova Street to Timiryazeva Street remains open (through the market area). A special platform made of slabs was installed specifically for this purpose back in March.

We recall that the overpass, 381 meters in length, will connect Kamennaya Gorka with Lebyazhye, which should have a positive impact on logistics. In addition, it is part of a global project for the development of the capital's transport infrastructure. In particular, this concerns the development of the third ring road.

"The structure will include 12 spans, on which 224 beams will be mounted: 201 of them are 33 meters long (11 spans), one span is 18 meters. The beams are supplied on time by the Dorstroyindustriya reinforced concrete bridge structure factory from Fanipol. The overpass will have three lanes in each direction. Its width varies from approximately 38 meters at the beginning to 44 meters at the approach ramps. The coordination headquarters at the site meets weekly with the participation of the client and all involved organizations," Sergey Rubchenya, director of the general contractor, MSU No. 2 of Mostostroy, told the Minsk-News correspondent.

"Currently, about 60 specialists from our department and colleagues from MSU No. 6 are working at the site, employing a rotation method, in round-the-clock mode, without weekends. Taking into account subcontractors, more than 30 units of equipment have been mobilized," Roman Zalutsky, site manager at MSU No. 2, said in turn.

It is reported that at the moment, out of thirteen piers, three have been constructed, two more are under construction, and simultaneously, work is underway on bored piles for another two piers. The construction of piers is being carried out in stages, as utilities are being relocated. Work on the retaining walls has also begun. On the first three spans, installation of 33-meter reinforced concrete beams weighing more than 60 tons each has been completed.

The agency reports that the general contractor and subcontractors plan to shorten the standard construction period of 36 months if possible.

July 8, 2026

— By the end of July, seven spans of beams will already have been installed, after which five more will remain to be laid. So far, we are moving strictly on schedule: we plan to fully complete the installation of reinforced concrete beams and carry out their monolithic casting in October, and to lay the asphalt concrete by the end of November, — said Sergey Vashkevich, General Director of Mostostroy, during an on-site meeting led by Vladimir Kukharev, Chairman of the Minsk City Executive Committee. He also noted that the current rains are not an obstacle.

— For concrete it is even beneficial: moisture is necessary when monolithic casting the beams. The rains will not affect the quality of the concrete or the asphalt, — his words are quoted by Minsk-News. It is specified that about 70 people are currently involved at the site, and work is being carried out around the clock.

Incidentally, in parallel with the construction, Kolesnikova and Lyutskaya streets are being reconstructed. According to reports, this stage is 80% complete, with full completion planned for July. In addition, the reconstruction of Kolesnikova Lane will be carried out, providing a connection from the overpass to the MKAD.

As for the expansion of Timiryazeva Street, according to Vladimir Latushkin, General Director of the Road and Bridge Construction and Improvement Department of the Minsk City Executive Committee, the project is currently under expert review: — As soon as we receive approval (by the end of summer), we intend to begin the necessary work so that everything is ready by the time the overpass is launched. This will help avoid traffic jams on the roads.

August 11

— The facility is 55–60% complete. Five out of 12 span structures remain to be covered, — Sergey Panyov, Director of the state enterprise Gordorstroy, told a Minsk-News correspondent. — In mid-September, we plan to arrange the access roads to the overpass on each side and begin asphalt paving of the approaches.

It is clarified that about 200 people are currently working at the construction site on a daily basis.

"Specialists involved in the construction of the bridge are working around the clock. Landscaping and engineering support for the adjacent areas are being carried out on an overtime basis in order to put the facility into operation as quickly as possible," the agency's source is quoted as saying.
