Recently, the chairman of the Brest Oblispolkom, Petr Parkhomchik, visited LLC “Sonysko” on a work visit. The tour of the estate was attended by the chairman of the Kobrin District Executive Committee, Alexander Moysiyuk, and the director of the P.U. “Kobringaz,” Dmitry Mantevich.

September 14, “Kobrin Vesti” / The history of “Sonysko” began in 2018, when Belarusian strawberries were almost absent from store shelves. They started growing it here in open ground. Today it, like raspberries, blackberries, strawberries, and wild strawberries, is grown entirely in greenhouses.

Only blueberries remained planted in the ground without cover. Their volumes were small, and the season was short. A turning point was the trip of director Alexey Minenko to an exhibition in the Netherlands, where he adopted an interesting experience.

Equipped greenhouses, tunnels, and hydroponics – all of these were gradually introduced on Kobrin land. The focus in strawberry cultivation is on remontant varieties with a neutral photoperiod, which yield up to three harvest waves. The first harvest occurs in the second half of May, the last in October.

Growing berries in greenhouses helps the estate avoid dependence on weather conditions, regulate planting times and schedules, and increase yield, leading to more profitable contracts. Closed facilities also reflect care for people, creating comfortable working conditions for them.

In recent years, the estate has secured a respectable position on the berry map of the Brest region. It offers those interested a permanent job or a contract arrangement. One can simply come for part‑time work on weekends or during vacation periods.
