The Republican Financial Literacy Olympiad Launches in Belarus

The Republican Financial Literacy Olympiad will take place in Belarus from September to December. This was announced by the National Bank. A total of four stages are planned: in educational institutions – in September, the district stage – October 16, the regional (Minsk city) – November 20, and the final stage – December 11. Participants can be students (with no age restrictions) who are studying the content of basic, secondary, and vocational education programs at the general secondary education level. Winners of the Olympiad will receive monetary prizes from the National Bank. Three teachers who prepared the winners will also be awarded monetary prizes.

The Olympiad includes multiple‑choice test questions on the following topics: personal finances, money, savings and deposits, borrowing, digital banking, cybersecurity, insurance, taxes and fees, investments and securities, and financial mathematics.

The Olympiad has been held annually in Belarus since 2014 and is one of the largest national events aimed at improving financial literacy. Last year, about 29,000 students from 2,354 educational institutions across the country took part.
