How the partnership between Belarus and China is developing was explained by experts during the opening of the 5th exhibition of Chinese goods and services in Minsk, reports the BELTA correspondent.

Deputy Chairman of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus Alexey Trukhanov noted that the NAS places special emphasis on cooperation with China, which possesses enormous innovative potential. “By conducting joint research and development, organizing conferences and symposia, and participating in large exhibition projects, Belarusian and Chinese scientists strive to create a special favorable ecosystem that stimulates breakthrough results and expands the horizons of knowledge and transformation for the sake of the prosperity of states and the well-being of our peoples,” he said.

Large research projects in materials science, microelectronics, and biotechnology are being carried out in joint laboratories. “The spectrum of scientific interests for the near future will expand to pharmaceuticals, advanced computing systems, and artificial intelligence technologies,” added Alexey Trukhanov.

First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belarus Sergey Lukashevich emphasized the importance of mutual cooperation. “Bright examples of successful industrial collaboration between the two countries are the Belarusian-Chinese automotive project BELGEE, the production of engines, gearboxes, and refrigeration equipment. In cooperation with the Minsk Automobile Plant, the assembly of automobile cranes, excavators, and manipulator cranes is carried out,” he said. “As can be seen from the list of joint projects, cooperation, competencies, and experience we have are sufficient. The Chinese side sees broad prospects for joint cooperation in mechanical engineering as the Belt and Road initiative progresses and opportunities for collaboration in the SCO and EAEU are opened. “We intend to create multi‑level cooperation platforms with the Belarusian side, exchange opportunities in the field of technological innovation, implement principles of a responsible approach to green development, and jointly build stable production and supply chains,” Sun Zhimin emphasized.

According to him, since the opening of the representative office in Belarus, the organization has consistently supported the development of the “Great Stone” industrial park and has helped deepen cooperation in mechanical engineering between the two countries. “Enterprises within the federation are successfully developing their activities in the park and have become examples of international cooperation in the field of production capacity,” he noted.

Deputy CEO of the China National Machinery Industry Corporation (SINOMACH), Li Xiaoyou, added that under the leadership of the heads of the two states, Sino‑Belarusian relations have made a leap forward in development.

As a flagship enterprise of China’s mechanical engineering industry, the corporation leverages its advantages in industry and science, will provide comprehensive support for high‑quality joint construction of the Belt and Road initiative, and will help practically deepen Sino‑Belarusian cooperation.

The corporation also invested in creating the Fackel SINOMACH project in the industrial park, where more than 20 Chinese‑Belarusian scientific, technical and innovative enterprises and organizations have already been established. “The project will continue to give impetus to innovation, facilitate the implementation of results of cross‑border scientific and technical cooperation in various fields, and create a higher‑level scientific and innovative platform for the high‑quality development of industry in China and Belarus,” the corporation’s representative said.
