The labor market in Brest region today is a dynamic ecosystem where every participant in the process – from university graduates to experienced workers – can find their place. The main trend is clear: the region is shifting from a job‑search model to a career‑building model, where initiative now firmly lies with those who are ready to learn, develop, and bring real benefit to the economy of their area. Leading industry specialists told the correspondent of «Зари» about the dominant trends in this sphere.
Deputy Chair of the Brest Oblast Committee on Labor, Employment and Social Protection Irina FEDCHIK:
Job fairs have also become an excellent advantage in the search for work. We plan to hold them monthly in various formats. For example, the online format is a good opportunity for communication between potential employees and employers. It has certain benefits and effectiveness. Although our people still prefer face-to-face interaction, the offline format allows direct communication, asking questions about future employment and social guarantees.
Head of the Labor, Employment and Social Protection Department of the Brest City Executive Committee, Inna NOVOZHILOVA: – Since the beginning of the year, 3,926 people have already approached us, of whom 3,491 have been employed, which is 82.4 percent. Currently, the focus is on young people who, for various reasons, were unable to enter the chosen institution but want to obtain a specialty. We accept
Another major area of our work is providing support to budding entrepreneurs, both individual entrepreneurs and those starting self-employment. Since the beginning of the year, we have already allocated subsidies for starting their own business to 44 people. And their projects are already actively operating!
Seasonal part-time work on agricultural enterprises is also currently relevant, where one can choose the form of employment and receive regular payment.
In the last days of September, we will hold a job fair for people of retirement and pre-retirement age.
Individual entrepreneur Татьяна МИСЬКОВА:
Of course, I want my business to grow and eventually turn into a large salon. In my opinion, there are all the chances for that. By the way, an interesting fact.
