From medicine to the agricultural and food sector. What are the prospects for the development of artificial intelligence in Belarus?

What prospects there are for the development of artificial intelligence in Belarus and where it is already being applied everywhere, first deputy chairman of the National Bank Alexander Yegorov said on the “First Information” TV channel, BELTA reports.

He spoke about increasing the efficiency of human labor where it is truly necessary and appropriate. In Belarus, such technologies can be applied, first and foremost, in medicine, through the creation of a unified centralized digital system that helps doctors make accurate diagnoses at early stages.

The second area is legislation and public administration. “Artificial intelligence is capable of analyzing a gigantic array of regulatory acts, finding duplicate or outdated provisions, and significantly reducing bureaucratic burden,” Alexander Yegorov emphasized.

The third sphere is education, training a new generation of qualified personnel who know how to set tasks for digital systems correctly.

AI can also be used more broadly in the agricultural sector—from precision farming systems on MTZ equipment to robotic livestock complexes, where neural networks optimize feed and monitor herd health.

“The most important thing is that artificial intelligence is becoming a highly qualified assistant, significantly increasing the productivity of existing staff rather than replacing them,” Alexander Yegorov noted. “Artificial intelligence is not a fairy‑tale magic wand that can flip the global economy in a day. Nor is it a mythical superintelligence that will leave all of us jobless tomorrow. It is a highly complex applied mathematics with more than 70 years of history, turned into a powerful amplifier of human labor.”

The first deputy chairman of the National Bank noted that there is no need to fear turning to artificial intelligence. It can indeed simplify life; one just needs to apply it wisely and beneficially.
