National Instant QR Payment Service "KROK" Launches in Belarus
Trybuna Pratsy July 1, 2026 12:34 The national instant QR payment service "KROK" is launching in Belarus on July 1. This was reported by BELTA, referencing information from the National Bank. Payments will be made not through a card, but directly from an account. Thanks to this service, a payment takes just seconds.
The payment service will start operating on July 1 in select stores in Minsk, Vitebsk, Gomel, and Soligorsk, as well as in online stores. For now the list is limited, but after testing at individual locations, a number of major retail chains will begin using the service in their other stores as well. In addition, an agreement has been signed with the "Oplati" service, and approximately from the third decade of July, wherever payments through that service are accepted, it will also become possible to pay via "KROK".
From July 1, the service will be available in five mobile applications, and from December 1 — in all mobile applications of Belarusian banks.
First Deputy Chairman of the Board of the National Bank Alexander Egorov had previously explained the payment algorithm. "From July 1, some banking applications will offer the option to pay through the 'KROK' service. The basic scenario is as follows. You come to a store, say that you will pay through 'KROK', a QR code is generated based on your receipt, you scan it with your phone, all the information is displayed — who the payment recipient is, what the amount is. You press 'pay'. Depending on the amount, confirmation with a PIN code or fingerprint may or may not be required. Then the payment is made. There is also the reverse situation: you say you will pay through 'KROK', generate a QR code on your end, it is scanned in the store, and the money is automatically debited from your account. All of this is absolutely safe. All those legal entities and individual entrepreneurs through whom goods and services can be paid must be registered in the 'KROK' payment service. Then we will know for certain that the money went exactly to whoever was supposed to receive it. All data is transmitted in encrypted form," he said.
As specified by OJSC "NKFO ERIP", there are no special phone requirements for using the service. Even the most basic smartphone will suffice — all that's needed is a camera and internet access.
