Income tax on professional income: the Tax Ministry reminds of liability for late payment
shklovinfo August 31, 2026 11:18 AM The Ministry of Taxes and Levies has reminded of the liability for late payment of the professional income tax (PIT), BelTA reports.
Starting from July 1, 2026, a minimum professional income tax has been introduced — 45 rubles (18 rubles for pension recipients). This innovation primarily affects individuals who are registered as PIT payers on the first day of the month but are not engaged in activities, meaning they do not generate receipts in the "Prof Income" application, as well as individuals whose calculated tax amount based on their income is less than the minimum.
The norms of tax legislation also provide for increased liability for late payment of professional income tax. If an individual fails to pay PIT on time for three consecutive months, such a taxpayer shall be forcibly deregistered by the tax authority. And the tax debt will be collected by enforced collection, including through enforcement agencies.
"If you have decided to deregister as a PIT payer, this must be done independently through the "Prof Income" application by going to Settings — Account — Deregistration. If you deleted the application but did not deregister before deleting it, you need to download and install it again, and then go through the deregistration procedure. If you have forgotten your login and password, it can be restored remotely through the "Prof Income" application or by contacting any inspection of the Ministry of Taxes and Levies," the ministry clarified.
