Every year, new staff arrive at the district forestries. Recent graduates come after colleges and universities to devote their lives to protecting nature. This year, three young specialists arrived at the Drohichyn forestry.

We spoke with the newly appointed specialist of the Belozersk wood-processing workshop in the village of Goravitsa, Vladislav Vazhinsky, learning about the specifics of his work and his plans for the future.

Vladislav began his work just a month ago at the Belozersk wood-processing workshop in the village of Goravitsa. Despite holding a diploma in mechanical engineering, Vladislav is now mastering a new role for himself – as a master of lumber production. The production needed such specialists, and the young specialist accepted the challenge without hesitation.

At the Belozersk wood-processing workshop, work never stops for a minute – sawing machines hum, the scent of fresh pine fills the air, and forklifts constantly maneuver between neat rows of finished products. In this usual work bustle, the young master Vladislav Vazhinsky confidently finds his way. Our interviewee, by nature a modest person, did not refuse to spare us a little time and told us about himself and his immediate duties at his first workplace.

Vladislav Vazhinsky is a native of Drohichyn. His childhood was inseparably linked with nature. He knew every path in the surrounding forests, and trips for mushrooms and berries became his best recreation. Gradually, his childhood interest grew into a conscious desire to devote his life to the forestry sector. When it was time to choose a university, Vladislav faced a dilemma – traditional forestry required deep knowledge in biology and chemistry, whereas his strengths were physics and mathematics. Having found the ideal balance between calling and ability, he enrolled at the Belarusian State Technological University, Faculty of Forest Engineering, Materials Science, and Design. Thus began his professional history as a future specialist in forest engineering.

Today lies on the shoulders of the young specialist a colossal responsibility — to control the entire technological process: from a log brought from the logging site to an orderly transport package heading out for shipment. The working day of our interlocutor is scheduled down to the minute. Vladislav begins his shift with receiving round logs. Here an accurate eye and strict adherence to standards are essential, so the master personally controls the volumes of incoming sawing material, takes measurements, determines the wood grade, and enters the data into the accounting system. Every log must go into production with maximum utility. As soon as raw materials are accepted, the organizer's abilities of the master come into play. Managing the working team is not an easy task, especially for a young specialist. Vladislav distributes shift assignments between machine operators and framework workers, monitors discipline and the execution of the production plan. For our interlocutor, the forest is not just nature, but a truly sacred place that demands special respect and careful treatment. In the modern world, such corners where one can peacefully rest the soul and feel unity with nature are becoming fewer and fewer. It is precisely here, among the greenery and silence, that we can experience true peace. The magical air, filled with the scents of herbs and pine, the soft rustle of crowns and the gentle singing of birds create an atmosphere that seems to heal and restore strength.

– For our body and soul – this is genuine relaxation, an opportunity to forget the hustle and find harmony with the surrounding world. Protecting the forest means preserving for ourselves and future generations this unique source of tranquility and inspiration, – Vladislav Vazhinsky is convinced.

At the Beloozersk workshop, Vladislav was welcomed warmly. Here they still remember him as an intern, so he didn’t have to adjust to the work rhythm – the team immediately greeted him in a friendly manner. Moreover, everyday issues were resolved as favorably as possible – management provided the young specialist with a cozy house right on the bank of the Dneprovsko-Buzhsky Canal, from which work is just a stone’s throw away.

Vladislav’s love for nature can be said to be in his blood. Following in his father’s footsteps, he seriously took up hunting, and this hobby largely determined his professional path. However, for Vlad himself, hunting is not so much about trophy acquisition as it is about unity with the forest and working with a faithful partner.
