Belarus and Uzbekistan plan to expand cooperation in medicine, tourism, IT and industry. This was stated by Chairman of the Minsk City Executive Committee Vladimir Kukharev at a meeting with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Uzbekistan to Belarus Nuriddin Mamazhonov, BELTA correspondent reports.

"We are interested in our trade and economic relations achieving even more serious dynamics. We have already discussed that cooperation in woodworking is possible, because Belarus has large reserves of forest and timber, well-developed wood processing, and furniture products are in demand in Uzbekistan," said Vladimir Kukharev.

The Belarusian side is also ready to assist in cooperation with enterprises that produce medical equipment and machinery. Issues of cooperation in education were also discussed, as young people from Uzbekistan are interested in studying in our country.

"Of course, we need to work on increasing flights. This is both tourism development and the possibility of more efficient business operations. Today we see that many areas that did not receive as much attention before have become relevant. We are ready to cooperate in IT technologies and in scientific research," emphasized the Chairman of the Minsk City Executive Committee.

He added that the opening of the Uzbekistan Trade House in Minsk is a landmark event. This generates particular interest among business representatives and city residents who want to learn about products manufactured in Uzbekistan.

Nuriddin Mamazhonov, in turn, is confident that Belarus and Uzbekistan have very similar positions on all areas of cooperation, from industrial cooperation to culture and tourism.

"We are fulfilling the tasks set by the leaders of our countries. During the latest meeting in Minsk, they clearly defined a new level of interaction, and we began discussing how we would achieve this," the ambassador emphasized. "Both sides already have a clear position and desire to reach a new level. I am confident that by the end of this year we will already show our first results."

Entrepreneurs from Uzbekistan plan to participate in the International Economic Cooperation Forum, which will be held on September 11 in Minsk. There they will be able to meet with colleagues and find new areas of cooperation.

Nuriddin Mamajonov added that Uzbekistan is interested in establishing Belarusian service centers on its territory to provide mechanical engineering services, as well as assembly of municipal and passenger vehicles. "We know that Belkommunmash has an extensive line of vehicles that we would use in the municipal sectors not only of Tashkent, but also of other regions of Uzbekistan. Also, recently we have been actively renewing the vehicle fleets in our major cities and regions. There is great interest in localizing the buses running on our streets," the ambassador summarized.
