China successfully launched the Lijian-1 Y18 carrier rocket from the Dongfeng Innovation Experimental Zone for Commercial Space Launches in northwest China, Xinhua reports.
The carrier rocket lifted off at 12:03 Beijing time and placed nine satellites into their intended orbits.
This group of satellites is primarily intended for monitoring the space environment, preventing and mitigating natural disasters, and conducting scientific experiments.
The mission was deemed successful.
This launch marked the 17th flight mission for the Lijian series carrier rockets developed by CAS Space, a commercial space firm founded by the Institute of Mechanics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.
To date, the Lijian series carrier rockets have successfully placed one spacecraft and 121 satellites into orbit, with the total payload mass in orbit exceeding 21 tonnes.
The launch schedule for the Lijian-1 carrier rocket is planned for the second half of 2027.
CAS Space, China's commercial space company and the leader in the number of satellites launched and payload mass in the country's private space sector, was reported by the Science and Technology Daily.
