The duty-free import quota for electric vehicles in Belarus has been exhausted – how much will now need to be paid

The State Customs Committee has announced the exhaustion of the quantitative quota for duty-free imports of electric vehicles by individuals.

This means that for any further customs clearance of an electric vehicle, a customs duty of 15% of the vehicle's value must be taken into account.

VAT exemption remains in place

The end of the quota does not cancel another benefit. Owners can still take advantage of the VAT exemption when importing electric vehicles, provided no more than five years have passed since the vehicle's release date.

This benefit is provided for by Decree of the President of Belarus No. 92 dated March 12, 2020.
