How Belarusians manage their incomes – data from sociological research

More than 28% of the country's residents keep cash savings in Belarusian rubles, said Alexey Avdinnin, chairman of the management board of RGOO "Belarusian Society 'Knowledge'", commenting on the results of a republican sociological survey concerning current issues of the country's socio-economic development.

This fact indicates the stability of the Belarusian currency, trust in the Belarusian ruble, and confidence in the financial-credit policy conducted by the National Bank.

In rural areas this indicator is higher – over 30%. This shows that people in rural regions are more inclined to accumulate money.

A global trend: currently people focus on consuming goods and using credit, thereby being confident about tomorrow, confident they can provide for themselves based on their salary and a stable future, and a stable socio-economic situation for their families, children.

12.4% of respondents direct surplus funds to bank deposits. This is a high indicator for the world economy. It speaks to trust in the banking system.

To the question "How do you evaluate your family's material condition?" 82.2% of respondents answered "Good".

These programs adopted at the state level for socio-economic development of the country every five years give their results: the population realizes the stability of the future.

82.1% of respondents are satisfied with their current place of work, 17.9% are dissatisfied. According to Alexey Avdinnin, this testifies that Belarusian government policy is oriented toward creating new jobs and simultaneously protecting workers. Great attention is paid by the state to ensuring the protection of workers' rights, serving staff. And the result is expressed in the sense that Belarusians value their job, invest in it, enterprises, organizations.

Answering the question "What is most important and significant for you today?" 54.3% of respondents indicated that "To earn a lot, even if it means working very hard," 37.3% – "To have a small income but more free time and easier work."

Also asked: "Do you know the exact cost of basic food products that you constantly purchase?" 80.6% of respondents answered positively, 19.1% negatively.

Regarding rent and utility payments, 89.5% of respondents said they have enough funds, while 4.9% said they do not. In 2021, these figures were 75.9% and 14.8%, respectively. This is also an indicator that over the past five years the socio-economic situation of Belarusians has improved, confidence has risen, and awareness, understanding of tomorrow, and prospects have become more stable.

According to the social study, regarding clothing and footwear, 79.6% of respondents said they have enough funds (in 2021 it was 49.8%), while 16.1% said they do not (in 2021 it was over 40%).
