Replacement of cash registers: Belarus switches to using new ones from July 1, 2025

Savetskaya Vyoska, June 5, 2025, 8:33. From July 1, 2025, business entities must use cash register summing apparatuses (CRSA) and software-based cash registers that comply with the new requirements*.

The Ministry of Taxes and Duties reminds that work related to the replacement (updating) of cash register equipment should be completed in advance — no later than April 1, 2025.

To replace (modify to meet the new requirements) cash register equipment, business entities need to:

  1. Determine:

the type of activity carried out using cash register equipment;

whether goods subject to marking with unified control marks and (or) identification tools are sold;

whether trade is carried out in premises with a sales area of 200 sq. m or more.

  1. Establish which model of cash register equipment is currently in use.

  2. Check, using the relevant lists on the website of the Ministry of Taxes and Duties:

whether the given model of cash register summing apparatus can be modified to comply with the new requirements;

whether the software-based cash register in use meets the new requirements.

If the cash register equipment cannot be modified, it is necessary to purchase other models (modifications) of a cash register apparatus or software-based cash register.

The deadlines for switching to the new cash register equipment will not be postponed.

From July 1, 2025, the use of cash register equipment that does not meet the new requirements will result in administrative liability provided for by Article 13.15 of the Code of Administrative Offenses (a fine of up to 50 base units, for an individual entrepreneur — up to 100 base units, for a legal entity — up to 200 base units).

*The requirements for cash register equipment are defined by:

§ Resolution of the Ministry of Taxes and Duties of the Republic of Belarus and the State Committee for Standardization of the Republic of Belarus dated October 14, 2022, No. 29/99 "On the requirements for cash register summing apparatuses, including those combined with taximeters, and ticket-issuing machines";

by Resolution of the Ministry of Taxes and Duties of the Republic of Belarus dated March 29, 2018 No. 10 "On the Requirements for a Software-Based Cash System, Software-Based Cash Register, Operator of a Software-Based Cash System, and on the Work of the Commission for Assessing Compliance with the Established Requirements" (as amended by Resolutions of the Ministry of Taxes and Duties of the Republic of Belarus dated December 29, 2022 No. 41 and dated March 15, 2024 No. 8).
