How much could the quota be changed?

The Association for the Development of Electric Transport proposed requesting an additional quota for duty‑free import of “electrics” from the EAEU.

They want to raise the number to 5–7 thousand for 2026.

Recall that companies exhausted their 14,000 quota already in mid‑July, while ordinary Belarusians did so in early September.

Can the EAEU increase the quota?

The decision on quotas is made by the Eurasian Economic Commission. Recently, Kyrgyzstan’s quota for duty‑free import of electric vehicles in 2026 was increased. A similar decision had previously been made for Armenia.

The initiative from our country is only now being presented.

In the meantime, you will have to pay for an “electric” at the border.

The customs duty currently amounts to 15% of the vehicle’s value. It must be paid upon declaration.

However, this does not mean that individuals cannot benefit from another exemption. If they import an “electric” that is no older than five years from its production date, they may be exempt from paying VAT under a presidential decree.
