The Investigative Committee has become a reliable shield in protecting the state and society from criminal encroachments, said State Secretary of the Security Council Alexander Volkovich at a solemn gathering dedicated to a significant date – the 15th anniversary of the establishment of the Investigative Committee of the Republic of Belarus and the Day of Employees of Preliminary Investigation Bodies, reports BELTA correspondent.
"It can be said with confidence that the creation of the Investigative Committee proved to be a fateful, well-considered, and important moment in the history of our state," said Alexander Volkovich.
The State Secretary of the Security Council noted that at the time there were doubts and debates about whether to create the new agency. He emphasized that the wise, decisive decision of the head of state was dictated by life itself, by the necessity to protect the rights and freedoms of citizens at a higher professional level.
"The Investigative Committee has truly taken a worthy place in the system of national security bodies of our country, becoming a reliable shield in protecting the state and society from criminal encroachments," he said.
