The State Control Committee of the Gomel Region, together with local authorities, continues its work to address the issue of long-term construction projects. Of particular concern are facilities whose construction was halted several decades ago. Measures have been taken regarding one such facility in the urban settlement of Vasilevichi, Rechitsa District, which the Committee had repeatedly brought to the attention of local authorities.
Specifically, an unfinished five-story building with a total area of more than 7,000 square meters has been demolished there. Construction work on the building stopped back in 1991. Since then, the building's structures had deteriorated and the facility became hazardous. Moreover, the large abandoned structure was located near private residential housing, which complicated its dismantling. The materials obtained from the demolition and disassembly of the building are planned to be used for various purposes, including for road bedding.
