In the Brest region, around 145 agricultural fairs are scheduled for September through November. This was reported to a BELTA correspondent by the main department of trade and services of the Brest regional executive committee.
At the autumn fairs in major cities and district centers, buyers will be offered potatoes, vegetables and fruits, berries, nuts, fish, honey, and other food and household goods. The first fairs of the season are planned for September 26. They will be held in Brest, Gantsevichi, Ivanovo, Kobrin, Stolin, and Malorita.
In particular, in the regional center, trade in agricultural products will be organized every weekend in October, as well as on November 1, 7, and 8 at five main venues. The fairs will be set up on Masherov Avenue, 17 (parking lot behind the market), Makhnovich Street, 6 (parking lot near the "Varshavsky" shopping and entertainment center), Moskovskaya Street, 273 V (parking lot near the "Korona" shopping center), Syabrovskaya Street, 61/1 (on the market grounds), and Gavrilov Street, 16 (parking lot near the "Ekvator" shopping and entertainment center). Volunteers will be on duty at the sales locations. They will help buyers who, due to advanced age or other reasons, find it difficult to carry their heavy purchases home.
Notably, on October 3, Brest will host a city harvest holiday — the "Gifts of Autumn" festival. Its venue will be the site on Gavrilov Street, 16. On that day, visitors will be able to buy fresh vegetables, fruits, berries, and forest gifts, as well as flowers and seedlings. A food court with autumn treats will be open. The highlight of the festival will be a large contest with several nominations. Organizers, for example, invite gardeners to show off the heaviest vegetable or fruit, and to boast of unusual varieties and shapes of produce. The program will also leave room for creativity and humor (the funniest vegetable will be selected).
"To most fully meet the demand of the population, every year from August to November local executive committees and market owners increase the number of spots for trade in fruit and vegetable products and organize additional sites," summed up the main department of trade and services of the Brest regional executive committee.
