More than 8.2 thousand substandard school goods were removed from stores in Belarus, BELTA reported to the Republican Center for Hygiene, Epidemiology and Public Health.

The sanitary‑epidemiological service of the Ministry of Health continues to supervise compliance by business entities with Belarusian legislation and the technical regulations of the EAEU. Particular attention is paid to the quality and safety of school assortment goods, including clothing, footwear, backpacks and stationery.

Under close scrutiny, 1,315 commercial premises were inspected, including popular seasonal school fairs and markets. In 23 % of the inspected premises, violations of mandatory requirements for the circulation of school goods were found.

The main violations identified concerned lack of labeling, errors in documentation or discrepancies with accompanying documents, as well as the absence of certificates and declarations of conformity guaranteeing the quality and safety of goods, and non‑compliance with established storage and sales conditions for school products.

As a result of supervisory activities, 215 orders for removal from circulation of more than 8.2 thousand units of products were issued. In the structure of the removed goods, clothing accounted for 56.9 % (over 4.5 thousand units), hosiery and underwear 13.2 % (over 1 thousand units), footwear 13.0 % (over 1 thousand units). The responsible parties have been held administratively liable.
