More than 2% by year-end. The Eurasian Development Bank forecasts growth of Belarus's economy in the absence of new shocks.

In January–August 2026, Belarus's economic growth amounted to 1.9%, down from 2.1% in January–July. The slowdown is linked to the alignment of grain harvest timelines and a cooling of activity in industry and construction, though consumer demand continues to support the dynamics.

This is stated in a weekly macroeconomic review by the Eurasian Development Bank (EDB).

According to Belstat data, the gross domestic product (GDP) volume for eight months in current prices reached 209.1 billion rubles, or 101.9% in comparable prices relative to the January–August 2025 level.

EDB analysts note that the slowdown in economic growth in January–August is primarily associated with the alignment of grain harvest timelines.

Agricultural production expansion slowed to 6.5% from 12.9% in January–July, which impacted the overall dynamics.

Additionally, a cooling of activity is observed in industry and construction.

At the same time, the country's economy is supported by consumer demand.

Retail trade turnover increased by 8.4% after 8.1% in the previous period. This is facilitated by growth in real disposable incomes of Belarusians, which rose by 8.1% over the seven months of the current year.

Belstat explained that the shift in grain and rapeseed harvest timelines in 2026 relative to 2025 affected the dynamics of gross value added and GDP.

According to the statistical agency, the GDP volume for January–August in current prices was 209.1 billion rubles, or 101.9% in comparable prices compared to the January–August 2025 level.

Despite the slowdown, EDB analysts remain optimistic. In the absence of new shocks, Belarus's economic growth could exceed the bank's expectations and reach over 2% by the end of 2026.
