In January-August 2026, investments in fixed capital in Belarus amounted to 36.9 billion rubles, with more than half of the investments coming from private sources, and the Minsk region leading in volume.

This was reported by the National Statistical Committee, as transmitted by BELTA.

Investment Structure: Construction Predominates

The bulk of investments in fixed capital traditionally fell on construction and installation work, whose share was 50.2%. This indicates that a significant portion of funds is directed towards the construction and reconstruction of facilities.

  • Construction and installation work — 50.2%
  • Machinery, equipment, and transport vehicles — 36.8%
  • Other works and expenditures — 10.7%
  • Intellectual property objects — 2.3%

Investments in machinery, equipment, and transport vehicles accounted for 36.8%. This category reflects the technical re-equipment of enterprises and the renewal of production assets.

Other works and expenditures made up 10.7%, while intellectual property objects accounted for only 2.3%. Despite its small share, this indicator is important for the development of the innovative component of the economy.

Leading Regions: Minsk Region and the Capital

The Minsk region became the leader in the share of total investment volume used — 24%. This is explained by the concentration of large industrial and infrastructure projects in the central region.

Minsk took second place with an indicator of 22.1%. The capital traditionally attracts significant investments due to the concentration of business, logistics, and services.

  • Minsk region — 24%
  • Minsk — 22.1%
  • Brest region — 12.8%
  • Gomel region — 12.2%
  • Grodno region — 10.3%
  • Mogilev region — 9.4%
  • Vitebsk region — 9.2%

Thus, almost half of all investments fall on the two leading regions — the Minsk region and the capital.

Funding Sources: Private Capital Takes Priority

Private investments in fixed capital amounted to 52.9% of the total volume, confirming the high role of business in economic development. State investments accounted for 40.8%, while foreign investments were only 6.3%.

  • Private — 52.9%
  • State — 40.8%
  • Foreign — 6.3%

This distribution indicates that the primary driver of investment activity is the private sector, while the state maintains significant participation in strategic projects.

Construction contract work for January-August amounted to 19.4 billion rubles. This figure reflects the volume of completed construction work and indirectly indicates activity in the infrastructure sector.

Thus, Belstat's statistics demonstrate a stable investment structure dominated by private capital and the construction component, as well as the continued leadership of the Minsk Region and the capital in terms of investment volume.
