Belarusians reminded about consequences of late payment of professional income tax

Starting July 1, 2026, new rules have come into effect in Belarus for payers of the professional income tax. The Ministry of Taxes and Levies has reminded the public: if you are registered as self-employed but are not engaged in any activity, the state will still charge you a mandatory payment.
The innovation is designed to purge the registry of "dead souls," but for those who forgot to deregister, this could result in forced collection.
Details of the matter have been published in the ministry's Telegram channel.

The main innovation is the introduction of a minimum tax threshold. Now the status of a professional income tax payer requires a fixed amount to be transferred to the budget every month. For most citizens, it will be 45 rubles; for pensioners — 18 rubles.
Two categories of people are primarily at risk. The first is those who registered "just in case" or stopped working long ago but forgot to close their account. The second is specialists with irregular income whose actual tax, calculated on revenue, turned out to be lower than the established minimum. Now the difference will have to be paid additionally.
No three months to think it over
The legislation is also tightening control over payment discipline. If a self-employed person allows a tax payment delay for three consecutive months, the tax authority will no longer wait for an application. The payer will be deregistered unilaterally.
At the same time, the debt will not disappear. The accumulated debt will be collected forcibly. In practice, this means that the materials will be transferred to enforcement authorities, which may lead to the seizure of bank accounts or property.
How to avoid problems: instructions from the Ministry of Taxes and Levies
The ministry urges citizens to audit their statuses right now. If you do not plan to receive income as self-employed in the near future, the algorithm of actions is simple:
Open the "Profdokhod" (Professional Income) app.
Go to the "Settings" section.
Select "Account" and click "Deregistration."
There are situations when the app has been deleted from the smartphone, but the payer status remains active. In such a case, the program must be reinstalled and the standard deregistration procedure must be followed.
If access to your account is lost (you forgot your login or password), you can recover your data in two ways: remotely through the app itself, or in person by visiting any tax inspection office (МНС). The main thing is not to ignore the problem, since the tax will be automatically assessed regardless of whether you remember your registration or not.
