Belarus and Mexico plan to expand mutual exports and establish direct business contacts. This was reported to BELTA by the press service of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food.

Minister of Agriculture and Food Yuri Gorlov held a working meeting with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Mexico to the Russian Federation, Eduardo Villegas Mejías. The parties assessed the dynamics of bilateral trade and identified priority areas for further development of agro-industrial cooperation.

Trade in food products and agricultural raw materials between the countries demonstrates steady positive dynamics. By the end of 2025, its growth rate amounted to almost 158% compared to 2024, with Belarusian exports increasing 2.2 times, primarily due to shipments of skimmed milk powder.

In the first half of 2026, the trend continued: total trade turnover reached 106.6% compared to the same period of the previous year. The key items of Belarusian exports remain whole and skimmed milk powder.

In the structure of imports from Mexico in the current year, vegetable seeds, fruits, berries and coffee prevail.

However, the potential for cooperation is significantly broader. The parties are interested in further increasing Belarusian supplies, including a wide range of dairy products and the entire assortment of goods of the Closed Joint-Stock Company "Belarusian National Biotechnological Corporation."

"Interaction between our countries has significant potential. We need to develop joint approaches and organize direct ties between business circles," noted Yuri Gorlov.

Eduardo Villegas Mejías confirmed the readiness of the Mexican side to facilitate the establishment of direct contacts between business communities, including through the organization of a video conference under the auspices of the chambers of commerce and industry of the two countries. "Agricultural technologies and production facilities of Belarus are of great interest to Mexico. We are ready to provide diplomatic assistance, since business must interact directly," the ambassador added, noting the guarantees received for full support of all relevant issues from the Belarusian side.

As confirmation of friendly relations, on September 5 a Day of Mexican Culture will be held in the center of Minsk. The event will be open to everyone and will include a presentation of national traditions, tasting of culinary delights, and a concert program.
