Belarus Ready to Supply Laos with a Wide Range of Industrial Products

This was stated by Deputy Prime Minister of Belarus Viktor Karankevich during a meeting with Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Finance of Laos Santiphabo Phomvihane, BELTA correspondent reports.

"I am convinced that our today's meeting, as well as interaction at the level of co-chairs of the bilateral cooperation commissions, will make it possible to discuss in a substantive manner the entire range of issues of mutually beneficial cooperation between our countries. Your visit and today's negotiations seem highly relevant, especially in the context of the meeting of the presidents of our countries on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation summit. Our countries maintain close partnership relations in various fields of activity. On international platforms, we closely interact with each other. Belarus is sincerely grateful to Laos for its principled position and support within the framework of international relations," Viktor Karankevich said.

On behalf of the President of Belarus, a landmark project has been implemented in the humanitarian sphere over the past three years to improve the health of Lao children on the basis of the National Children's Educational and Health Centre "Zubrenok." In July-August 2026, 20 children from Laos were already able to vacation there.

"However, in trade and economic cooperation, we still need to make significant efforts to move to joint projects that would allow us to fully realise the potential of cooperation between our countries. We expect to sign basic agreements in the field of export lending with the Belarusian Development Bank and Belinvestbank, which will allow us to move from words to concrete steps in the direction of mutually beneficial cooperation and financing of individual contracts. We are ready to supply Laos with a wide range of industrial products, equipment, and machinery produced by Belarusian enterprises using the Belarusian financial instrument. For our part, we are ready to discuss the possibility of supplying Laos to Belarus with light industry products, as well as agricultural goods, including coffee, rice, and fruits. We are also ready to consider other forms of bilateral cooperation," the deputy prime minister noted. Viktor Karankevich proposed discussing opportunities to intensify bilateral cooperation. "I will be glad to hear your proposals," he concluded.
