Anyone who has ever done renovation in an apartment, house, or cottage knows: the outcome largely depends on the contractor. Even a detailed plan and a carefully calculated estimate do not guarantee that the work will be completed on time, expenses will not increase, and the result will be of high quality.

To make it easier for customers to assess the reliability of developers, engineering and contracting organizations, Belarus is working on the issue of creating a rating of companies and individual entrepreneurs operating in the construction sector. A similar mechanism already exists for dishonest suppliers – the corresponding list has been formed by the Ministry of Antimonopoly Regulation and Trade.

As reported by the First Deputy Minister of Architecture and Construction of Belarus, Vladimir Naumovich, in the near future, information about construction organizations is planned to be placed on a state information resource.

The rating should help citizens, organizations, and legal entities choose a contractor and make a more informed decision.

When forming it, they will take into account customer satisfaction, quality and timing of work execution, as well as adherence to the approved estimate. These indicators will be combined into a single integrated rating.

The evaluation methodology has already been developed. At the same time, its details will not be disclosed in order to exclude pressure on the system and attempts to influence the final results by competing organizations.

Thus, the choice of contractor is gradually ceasing to be a kind of lottery. However, even the presence of a rating does not eliminate the need to carefully conclude a contract, fix deadlines and work costs, and stipulate the liability of the parties.
