In the labor collective of the OJSC "Stroytrest No. 3 of the Order of the October Revolution," there are many wonderful traditions, one of which is creating comfortable conditions for its employees. This long-standing tradition can be described as delicious, homemade food, which is available not only to the enterprise's workers but also to Soligorsk residents. Now this tradition continues in a new format: on October 19, 2026, the Yanus Cafe warmly opened its doors after a renovation, acquiring a new and cozy interior. The general director of Stroytrest No. 3, Yury Olekhnovich, and the head of the Yanus Cafe, Irina Ganich, took part in the solemn ceremony of cutting the symbolic red ribbon at the entrance to the cafe.
The first phase of the renovation is complete
The cafe was closed for renovation from July 6, 2026. The renovated area of the premises is almost 200 square meters. The authors of the project were specialists from the Department of Project Works of the Stroytrest No. 3 directorate. In particular, architect Elina Gorchakova developed the design project and its visualization, created the overall stylistic concept of the interior, planned its spatial organization, and participated in the selection of furniture, lighting fixtures, and decor elements. The chief architect of the project, Elena Sentyurova, was responsible for developing the architectural and construction drawings. Also, the specialists of the Department of Project Works performed a technical inspection of all the cafe's premises, which occupies 523 square meters. As reported at the opening, the curator of the renovation, the Deputy General Director for General Affairs and Ideological Work - Head of the Personnel Department, Olga Ganchar, stated that the process of purchasing new furniture for the updated cafe is ongoing.
During the implementation of the project, Stroytrest No. 3 invested almost 525 thousand rubles in construction and electrical installation work, as well as the installation of a new air conditioning system, not counting the furniture. During the renovation, a significant volume of demolition and construction work was carried out: the electrical wiring and lighting fixtures were replaced, taking into account the power of the equipment; in the entrance group (hall), the dining room, and the main banquet hall (with 60 seats), construction and finishing work was done; door units were replaced, and suspended ceilings were installed; the entrance group (the descent into the cafe) and the restroom were renovated. A new trade counter and showcase were installed. The specialists of the Department of Project Works compensated for the absence of windows with light tones in the interior, the installation of mirrors, and various lighting scenarios, which created a special atmosphere of coziness.
Irina Ganich announced at the opening that a couple of updated dishes had been added to the cafe's menu. "We are guided by the opinions of visitors, by demand, and depending on that, we supplement the menu," said the cafe manager. "We did this before and will continue to do so. No fewer than 100 visitors come to our cafe daily. From 11:00 to 14:00, we usually have our peak hours. Four people cook and serve the visitors. We are in need of more staff and are open to candidates—a cook and a waiter—to join our close-knit team. A lot of work has been done. It is pleasant to see the result, despite the planned second phase of repairs. Thank you to the general director of Construction Trust No. 3, Yuri Olekhnovich, for his support in the repair. He said he would do it, and he will keep his word."
Work on improving the remaining, yet unrepaired, area of the cafe will continue as part of the second phase of repairs, scheduled for the first half of 2027. This will involve replacing the kitchen's technological equipment, including refrigeration, zoning, and expanding the kitchen's auxiliary rooms.
The naming story: What lies behind the cafe's name, "Janus"
While media and bloggers competed to report on the cafe's opening, and commentators exercised their rhetoric, the online publication str3.by took a look at the historical context behind the cafe's name.
According to veterans of Construction Trust No. 3, the name did not appear out of nowhere. In particular, back in the early 1990s, in its first version, the cafe "Janus" was one of the first casinos in Soligorsk, with a billiard table and a sauna. In ancient Roman mythology, Janus was the god of entrances, exits, and every beginning, which made him the perfect patron for a casino—a place where people enter with hope for luck and exit with a win or a loss. As the guardian of thresholds and the two-faced god, looking simultaneously into the past and the future, Janus symbolized for the establishment's creators excitement, the "doors of fortune," luck, and risk, with each round of the game becoming a symbolic entry into the unknown. Thus, the mythological image of Janus not only gave the cafe's predecessor its name but also set its symbolic framework as a place on the threshold between hope and chance, past and future, where each game is a crossing into the unknown.
A second rebirth of the establishment took place in 2001, when the casino was transformed into the "Yanus" Leisure Center, which corresponded essentially to its name in terms of purpose. Originally, the "Yanus" Leisure Center was serviced by the "Hermes" subsidiary trading network, which was part of the structure of the "Green Bor" Children's Rehabilitation and Health Center, as well as its canteen (another reference to Greek mythology: Hermes was the patron of trade, profit and commerce; moreover, there was a period when the "Yanus" casino and "Hermes" trading network existed in parallel within the structure of construction trust No. 3, but what came first is difficult to say). Later, in the early 2000s, "Yanus" acquired its own kitchen. For the third time, the cafe underwent a major renovation in 2018, in the year of the 60th anniversary of construction trust No. 3. At its opening, it looked like this.
And on October 19, 2026, the cafe "Yanus" will enter its fourth modernized update in the chronicle of the cafe. Scroll through the photo roll to compare before and after.
The collective of the enterprise wishes the updated cafe full occupancy and happy guests who will return again and again. May the aroma of delicious dishes and fresh pastries attract new visitors, and the atmosphere make this place a beloved corner in the city!
