With the launch of MEP-2, the product range will expand to include sunflower oil, meal, and lecithin.

Yuri Karayev, Chairman of the Grodno Regional Executive Committee, visited Belagroterminal LLC in Smorgon, where construction of the second oil extraction plant – MEP-2 – has been completed, reports Pul 4 Region. The regional head familiarized himself with the progress of commissioning work and assessed the enterprise's readiness for launch.

The new production will become the country's sole processor of all oilseed crops. Launching the second plant will enable Belarus to have capacities for deep processing of sunflower seeds, increase exports of vegetable oils, and reduce livestock farming's dependence on imported meal.

"Such projects strengthen food security and create new growth points for the Grodno region's economy," emphasized the governor.

The enterprise already produces soybean, rapeseed, flax, and camelina oils, meals for animal feed, and lecithins widely used in food and industrial production. With the launch of MEP-2, the product range will expand to include sunflower oil, meal, and lecithin.

It is important to note that the production-logistics complex Belagroterminal in Smorgon is the largest and most advanced oil extraction plant in Belarus, with a processing capacity of up to 5,000 tons per day. It was the first large-scale project of the Sodruzhestvo Group of Companies in the Republic of Belarus, which has continued to develop over the past 10 years and remains a leader in its industry.
