How to make the work of youth councils truly effective? Answers to this question were sought at an off-site seminar held at the Beldzhi Auto Plant in the Northern Industrial Zone, where specialists from ideological work and youth affairs departments, deputies, as well as chairs and members of the youth councils of the Borisov District and the city of Zhdino gathered. The theme of the meeting was "Youth Councils: Effective Practices of Interaction and Regional Development."
They began with a tour of the enterprise, which proved to be perfectly timed. Young people work at all stages of automobile production at the Beldzhi Auto Plant, and many try to get here straight from their university days. There are plenty of reasons: decent salaries, bonuses, and various perks. At the same time, the young employees don't limit themselves to work in the workshops: they regularly participate in district events and are often among the best.
What the youth truly values here was something the guests saw with their own eyes. The workshops are dominated by young employees, and, as the seminar participants noted, they work with genuine enthusiasm.
The off-site seminar was opened with a welcoming speech by Liliya Checha, Chair of the Borisov District Council of Deputies. She thanked the plant's management for their hospitality and noted their effective work with young people.
Liliya Eduardovna emphasized that the development of youth initiatives and effective interaction with young people are of great importance for the life of the region. That is precisely why the meeting brought together deputies, representatives of government bodies, and young people to exchange experiences, discuss topical issues of youth work, and find new solutions. The information gained from the seminar will help determine effective approaches for the activities of youth councils and strengthen their role in regional development.
Then the seminar participants moved on to an exchange of experiences. The first to speak was Olga Korchmar, chair of the Peresadovsky Rural Executive Committee. She spoke about the development of the rural council, which, by the way, includes 11 inhabited localities.
Over the last three years, 96 land plots have been allocated in the rural council for the construction of residential houses. Most of them went to large and young families, many of whom moved from Zhdino. According to Olga Korchmar, this is already bearing fruit: the population is growing, 82 children are studying in the local school, and the kindergarten is completely full. A clear example of the changes is one of the villages in the rural council, where just two years ago only three people lived, and which now counts 57 residents.
The chairperson paid special attention to the development of infrastructure. A house of culture with clubs, a library, a post office, a paramedic and midwife station, as well as other organizations and enterprises operate on the territory of the rural council. All of this helps create comfortable living conditions for residents and attracts new families to the countryside.
The experience of the Peresadsky Rural Council became a clear example for the seminar participants of how systematic work at the local level helps develop the territory, attract young families, and create comfortable living conditions.
Then the floor was given to Ekaterina Antonenko, the chairperson of the Youth Council under the Borisov District Council of Deputies. She shared the implemented projects and initiatives aimed at developing the youth movement and involving young people in the public life of the district with the seminar guests.
– Today, the Youth Council under the Borisov District Council of Deputies is not just a discussion platform or a group of activists. It is an active link in the local self-government system, a real and reliable personnel reserve for our region. During the reporting period, we have proven that the modern youth of Borisov is not passive, but is ready to take responsibility for the future of their district and their country, – noted Ekaterina Antonenko. – Each project, each dialogue platform, and charitable event is our contribution to the stable development of the Borisov region, to the preservation of historical truth and the continuity of generations. We see our main task in being an effective bridge between the authorities and the youth environment, promptly conveying the requests of young people and together finding constructive solutions. The youth of Borisov has creative energy, potential, and, most importantly, a sincere desire to work for the benefit of their native land.
Next, the seminar participants learned more about the activities of the Youth Council of the city of Zhodino. According to the chairperson of the Zhodino City Council of Deputies, Sergey Konovalov, the Youth Council of the city was created not only under the City Council of Deputies, but also under the City Executive Committee.
