Desk audit: how it works and why it is important to respond to a notice from tax authorities.
The MNS inspection for Rechitsa district, using an example of one of the inspections, reminds taxpayers of the desk audit mechanism and the consequences of ignoring notices from the tax authority.
Thus, during the desk audit, it was found that the enterprise understated its tax base and overstated VAT deductions for 2025 and the first quarter of 2026.
A notice was sent to the enterprise proposing to submit documents, explanations, or make corrections to the tax declarations (calculations).
The taxpayer did not respond to the tax authority's notice, did not submit tax declarations, and did not pay the additional taxes.
As a result, the inspection drew up a desk audit report, issued a decision to pay additional VAT in the amount of 203,05 thousand rubles and 5.3 thousand rubles of penalties.
Materials were also prepared for bringing to administrative liability for non-payment of taxes, both regarding the business entity — the organization — and the responsible official.
Furthermore, information about the identified violations has been transferred to the Financial Investigations Department Management of the Gomel Region for legal assessment.
The MNS inspection for Rechitsa district once again calls on taxpayers: you have received a notice — do not ignore it.
If changes are made to tax declarations in a timely manner and tax obligations are fulfilled voluntarily, it is possible to avoid fines.
