Teach from childhood: first aid in practice.
September began with an important milestone: the country's largest charitable organization turned 105 years old.
And it worthily continues the traditions of mercy and humanism that originated in the Soviet Union. Medical and social support, response to emergency situations, as well as the dissemination of knowledge about international humanitarian law – these are the key vectors of the Belarusian Red Cross
Many events are also held in the district with the participation of BKK volunteers aimed at preventing harmful habits and dangerous diseases. Reducing the number of difficult life situations is the goal of the interdepartmental preventive action “Happy Family – Happy Childhood,” organized jointly with the commission on juvenile affairs.
– Since 2020, the medical-social service “Dapamoga” has been operating in the district. It provides home care for lonely elderly people and people with disabilities under the state social order. The junior medical sister of the Red Cross, Natalya Yermolayeva, currently has five wards, – says the chairman of the district organization of the BKK.
They also support those who seek salvation in our country, fleeing nationalist pressure, shelling and bombings. It is enough to recall how in March 2022, in our district, in Hdeni, a temporary accommodation point was organized for refugees from Ukraine:
– They were met in heated tents. They were offered hot food, drinks, clothing, hygiene items, blankets and other things. If necessary, medical and psychological assistance was provided. At the request of the District Council of Deputies, the Gomel Regional Organization of the Belarusian Red Cross allocated aid to Ukrainian citizens who arrived here and were left without income, in the form of vouchers for food, clothing and personal hygiene items. 65 people received them.
Donating a small amount to charity or becoming a volunteer is not difficult, but it is a tremendous help for those who truly need it. And it is precisely such caring, well‑intentioned people, like those in this organization, who help keep our country peaceful and kind, where mercy, humanity and compassion are especially valued.
A reliable bridge between those who need care and those who are ready to provide help – the Belarusian Red Cross.
