Preparation for the heating season is not just about filling systems with water, but a large-scale safety exam. In Belarus, a campaign to prepare for the autumn-winter period is in full swing.

As Anastasia Vetrova, an inspector of the propaganda and public relations sector of the Bragin ROCHS, explained, the main controller of industrial safety of the country's heat sources is traditionally the Department for Supervision of Safe Work in Industry of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Belarus:

• The inspectors of the department assess the readiness of boiler houses with a capacity of more than 200 kW. Without their positive conclusion, no large heat source has the right to receive a passport for winter readiness.

What the inspectors check this year:

technical condition: reliability of boiler operation, integrity of automation safety systems, regulation and signaling;

documentation: availability of licenses, maintenance contracts, results of technical diagnostics of equipment with an expired service life;

readiness of personnel: completion of training, verification of knowledge on industrial safety issues and readiness for actions in emergency situations.

This year, 5,215 boiler houses with a total capacity of over 200 kilowatts each are subject to evaluation of readiness for the autumn-winter period, and more than 5,000 have already been checked and are ready for the next season.

• An important reminder for business entities: all defects identified by inspectors must be eliminated immediately. Violation of the rules for preparing and operating heat sources entails strict administrative liability, Anastasia Vetrova emphasized.
