Belarusian wood products firmly hold their positions on the domestic and foreign markets. Experts spoke about their main advantages on the air of the "Economic Environment" program on the "Belarus 1" TV channel, sb.by reports.

Sergey Kasyanov, Deputy Chairman of the "Bellesbumprom" concern, noted that the domestic furniture industry has made a qualitative leap, offering buyers a wide range of products:

"Today the market features products made of panel materials (chipboard, MDF) and solid wood in various price segments — from budget models to premium class. The main competitive advantage of Belarusian goods remains their relatively affordable price."

The expert also added that Belarusian manufacturers keep pace with global trends. Specialists regularly attend international furniture exhibitions, thanks to which all current world design trends are introduced at domestic factories within a year after their official announcement. Thus, Belarusian furniture fully meets modern standards.

In turn, Alexander Ilnitsky, General Director of OAO "Ivatsevichdrev," drew attention to the fact that today the country's major furniture manufacturers face new ambitious tasks. One of the main goals is to create their own competence center for design and engineering.

"At the micro level, we often pay attention to colleagues working in other countries. We study their experience, adapt ideas, and strive to make the time lag (between the emergence of a trend and the release of a finished product. — Editor's note) minimal," he said.

At the same time, the issue of design is always challenging. On the one hand, it is possible to create an ultra-modern model that matches the latest high-fashion trends, but on the other hand, it is necessary to take into account the purchasing power of the population, because exclusive designer solutions always cost more.

"It should be taken into account that innovation is always a certain risk. And the main task of woodworking is to provide a wide arsenal of tools for implementing new ideas that would not limit our young designers, but would allow them to create new products, be market leaders, and claim the role of trendsetters," Alexander Ilnitsky concluded.
