The Loevsky forest district is a developed institution that faces a wide range of diverse tasks. These tasks involve not only the formation of forests, their restoration, protection, and defense, but also the provision of rational use of the resource potential of the green wealth. The director of the institution, Alexander Puntus, told a correspondent about what the institution is working on.

The forest district includes four forestries, a forest point, and a woodworking shop. The area of the forest fund is 45.23 thousand hectares, of which 36.82 thousand hectares are covered with forest. Our work combines forestry activities with industrial activities. This year, we have carried out the construction of mineralized strips with a length of 603.9 km, maintenance of mineralized strips and fire breaks of 1089.6 meters, and repaired 9.1 km of fire-fighting roads. In addition, we have updated eight information stands and repaired 74 barriers.

The forest district provides itself with planting material by 100%. For this purpose, greenhouses function: four are located directly in the forest district, and two are in the Pridneprovsky and Loevsky experimental and production forestries. We specialize in growing oak with a closed root system, common pine, and weeping birch in boxes. The workers of the forest district carry out the entire complex of forestry work, paying special attention to such areas as forest restoration and afforestation.

Recently, the republican campaign "Give the forest a new life" was completed. This initiative brought together those who care about nature and the future of their region. About 200 people took part in the environmental marathon, including employees of the district emergency department, military personnel of the Loev border commandant's office, court employees, as well as employees of the Loevsky ROVD together with the pupils of the military-patriotic club "Fakel". During the campaign, 268,200 units of planting material were planted. The volume of forest culture creation was 71.3 hectares, including 1.8 hectares on burnt areas and 2.8 hectares on drying areas. Each young tree planted with care is a contribution to the preservation and multiplication of our natural heritage.

In the operations of the forestry enterprise, an important role is played by the preparation of forest products for subsequent sale both on the domestic market and for export. Over nine months, revenue from the sale of products, work, and services amounted to 6,646 thousand rubles, while the export of produced goods reached 369,797 thousand dollars. Across all types of felling, 73,500 cubic meters of timber were harvested. The volume of lumber production reached 5,141 cubic meters, of which 2,354.080 cubic meters were sold for export. In September, a coal sawmill was installed in the workshop, which will allow production volumes to increase and ensure the completion of the year‑end target.

In our industry, people of various specialties work. These include foresters, forest masters, engineers, and many others. All of them responsibly carry out their tasks: to manage the country's main asset—its forest wealth—competently, concluded Alexander Vladimirovich.
