In the lead-up to Machine Builder's Day, it is customary to talk about industry achievements, new technologies and production capacities. But behind any machine, even the most modern one, stands a person.

At OOO "MMZ named S.I. Vavilov – managing company of holding "BelOMO", in mechanical production shop #3 (until 01.09.2026 – OOO "Zlobinsky plant 'Svet") such people are especially valued. A cohesive team of 69 people works on dual-purpose product output, each one a professional.

Leontiy Lavrenov has dedicated nearly two centuries of his life to the plant. More than 47 years ago, right after military service, he came here as an apprentice mechanic for assembly operations. This profession immediately suited him, determining his future path. The MSR (mechanical assembly) machinist specialty is one of the key specialties in the machine-building industry. It is precisely such masters who assemble complex units, motors, turbines and other mechanisms from individual parts, from which the reliability of entire production lines depends on the quality of assembly.

– The enterprise takes pride in its products, – noted senior workshop master Ekaterina Mamurina. – In our work accuracy, attentiveness and carefulness are important, because the operation of the mechanism as a whole depends on this. Leontiy Lavrenov is an example for many. He not only regards his duties with reverence but also is always ready to help colleagues and successfully passes on experience to young employees. When a new part is launched into production, Leontiy Mikhailovich together with colleagues constantly thinks about how to manufacture it quickly and qualitatively.

For conscientious labor in 2021, Leontiy Lavrenov was awarded the Honorary Prize of the Zlobinsky district administration, in 2023 he was added to the Enterprise Hall of Fame, and in 2026 he was honored with prizes from the Ministry of Industry of the Republic of Belarus.
