After dismissal, a person is not immediately classified as an unemployed citizen. Legislation allows a period for searching for new employment. Generally, a citizen is not counted in this category for the quarter that follows the quarter in which the employment relationship ended.

If you were dismissed in April (second quarter), then for the entire third quarter (July–September) you are still not entered into the relevant databases. This time is given for searching for new work without any consequences, says Olga Brashevets, secretary of the continuously operating commission for coordinating work on facilitating employment of the population of the Druchichin district.

In certain cases, the job‑search period is extended to six months from the date of dismissal. This applies to situations where the employment contract or agreement is terminated for one of the following reasons: reduction in workforce or staff; the employee's inability to perform the position or work due to health; expiration of the contract.

On the district executive committee's website, there is a section titled “Decree No. 3 of the President of the Republic of Belarus ‘On Employment Assistance’,” where the necessary information about the commission's activities is available.
