Deputy of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus, First Secretary of the Central Committee of the public association "BRSM" Vladimir Pavlovsky discussed issues of preserving historical memory and topical issues of the enterprise's activities at a meeting with the labor collective of the Gorky branch of the Shklovsky consumer cooperative.

The meeting of the parliamentarian with the labor collective took the form of an open dialogue and exchange of opinions on issues that concern people. The focus of the speaker was on the priorities of the country's socio-economic development for the upcoming five-year period, the legislative activity of the House of Representatives, and the work of deputies in the constituency.

Vladimir Pavlovsky said what bills parliamentarians are currently working on, emphasizing that any bill concerns the quality of people's lives. Today special attention is paid to issues of healthcare, support for motherhood and childhood, and demographic security. The deputy noted what issues people most often bring up during receptions. Water quality, the need to promptly cut down emergency trees, road improvement, street lighting, adjustment of transport schedules, accessibility of medical services – all this directly affects the quality of life of people in the districts. "The main thing when working in the constituency is constant feedback with people. Such meetings in collectives allow us to 'synchronize watches', hear people's opinions, understand the mood in labor collectives,

Questions were raised about the need to update automotive transport, equip the slaughterhouse, which is profitable in our district, regulate routes of mobile trade, and so on. The conversation quickly went beyond standard questions about wages and trade. People openly spoke about what daily hinders effective work: competition with chain stores, lack of clear rules for all market participants. The main idea voiced in the hall: the consumer cooperative does not refuse its social responsibility. But employees want this responsibility to be seen, taken into account, and not to put the organization in inherently unequal conditions when chain stores choose the most profitable routes. 'We transport a seller 70 kilometers, while a competitor sets up right under our store,' was heard at the meeting. If the consumer cooperative continues to operate in villages where there is little profit, it needs support and clear rules of the game.

When other sellers enter the villages, routes must be coordinated so as not to destroy the existing system. Behind each route, store, and mobile shop are not only numbers in reports. Behind them are people in the villages, for whom the consumer cooperative's store often remains the only stable source of essential goods. After the reorganization and the merger of Gorky consumer cooperative with Shklovsky, the workload increased and a number of problems arose that need to be addressed promptly. Details – in the upcoming issue of 'Gorky Vestnik'.
