What gives birth to straight roads: the story of master Alexei Dybkin

Alexey Dyubkin has worked for more than twenty years at the branch of the KUP “MogilevoblDorStroy” DRSU No. 216. During that time he has progressed from assistant operator to asphalt concrete plant master. Today, the timely delivery of asphalt concrete mix to the district roads depends on the work of his cohesive team.

In the road industry, the results of labor are visible to everyone. It is the smooth street surfaces, renovated road sections, and the ability to reach work, school, or home without unnecessary difficulties. But before asphalt is laid on the road surface, it must go through its journey—from material preparation to the release of the finished mix. And behind this process are people who know their trade and take their work seriously. One of them is Alexey Dyubkin.

Alexey began his working career at the company after his military service. At first he worked as a bitumen mixer, then as an assistant operator, and later he mastered that position himself. Gradually he gained experience, understood all the nuances of production, and accumulated professional knowledge. He has been working as a plant master for about seven years. Alexey has more than twenty years of experience in the road industry. And all this time he has remained loyal to his home company.

— I have worked here practically my whole life. I came almost immediately after the army and stayed. Having gone through this path, I realize I wouldn't want to change anything, — he shares.

Behind these simple words lie years of work, experience, and the habit of taking responsibility for the task at hand. The work of an asphalt concrete plant master is not limited to the direct production of the mix. Alexey controls the asphalt output, monitors the receipt and acceptance of materials, keeps track of their write‑off, and handles the necessary documentation. It is important that everything is organized clearly: materials arrive, equipment operates, and the finished mix is sent to road sites on time.

The technology requires attention and coordination. In production, necessary components are used, including bitumen and other materials. Everything goes into a mixing unit, where the components are mixed, turning into an asphalt concrete mixture. Then the finished material is loaded into machines and sent to where the road workers are waiting for it. The work is being done in serious volumes. Depending on the production need, the plant releases several tons of mixture. Each stage requires control, because the quality of the finished material depends on the quality of the future road surface. The plant meets the needs of our district, and if necessary, and with orders, the mixture is also supplied for other road works in other districts.

Behind this entire production process stands a small team of four people. For many years, they have worked side by side, know each other well, and understand each other half a word.

"We've been working together for over twenty years, the team is good, cohesive, there are no problems, everyone knows their duties," says master Alexei.

In such a business, mutual support is especially important. When production works in a seasonal mode, and the finished asphalt is needed by road workers without delays, much depends on the responsibility of each of them.

Their work is mostly seasonal. It starts in March and continues until November. In the off-season, they produce repairs to the equipment of the plant itself. Alexei Dybkin has a five-day workweek, however, production needs can sometimes dictate their own conditions. Sometimes employees may be delayed, work during lunch or on weekends. According to Alexei, this is an approach from Soviet times, which implies finishing work first and only then resting.

Technologies, equipment are being improved, but the main requirements for the hero of this material remain the same: conscientiousness, discipline, and responsibility for the result.

The choice of this profession is also connected with family history. Alexei's father worked here for a long time. So, in a certain sense, the continuation of the labor path has become a family tradition.

Alexei himself is not inclined to talk much about his own merits. For him, it is more important that the plant works, the mixture is released on time, and the road workers receive the necessary material.

Good roads begin not only with technology and materials, but first and foremost with people who know how to and love doing their job.
