The average nominal salary in Minsk for the first half of the year amounted to 3,878 rubles. This was stated by the chairman of the Minsk City Executive Committee, Vladimir Kukharev, during a report to Alexander Lukashenko.

According to Kukharev, the salary level in the capital is quite high and the city authorities intend to maintain it. Lukashenko agreed that the achieved level needs to be maintained, but warned against too rapid further growth.

"We need to maintain this level, but not force it. Because salaries, huge money, will sooner or later lead to inflation. And inflation in Minsk will spread across the entire country, and we will 'eat up' this money through price growth," he stated.

Lukashenko also drew attention to the need to correlate income growth with labor productivity. According to him, there should not be a situation where salaries increase rapidly against the backdrop of declining production.

During the report, economic indicators of the capital were also discussed. Minsk's gross regional product grew by 2.2%, and its share in Belarus's GDP stands at 32%.
