The motto of the first meeting of the VII All-Belarusian People's Assembly "The time has chosen us!" perfectly reflects the civic position of delegate Oksana Miroevskaya. The chairwoman of the district organization of the Belarusian Trade Union of Workers of Education and Science is convinced that the time in which a person lives always requires initiative, compassion, and readiness to take responsibility for the future of their country.
About the lessons of the past
Even as a schoolgirl, Oksana Miroevskaya understood the fundamental influence of the historical process on the development of society and science. This connection was especially vivid for her in literary works. And there was never a shortage of books in the house: the mother of our heroine, Irina Vasilyevna, taught Russian language and literature at school No. 12, where her daughter also studied.
"The study of literature without knowledge of history deprives you of the opportunity to hear the author, understand his characters, and make the right conclusions. Based on the historical context, literature reflects the spirit of the times. You can return to the paragraph about the Battle of Borodino several times, learn the chronology, the names of the commanders, but still not understand what the soldiers felt on the battlefield and how people's lives changed if you don't read Leo Tolstoy's novel 'War and Peace'. To study more, read, analyze - this is what a person needs to do in order not to be punished in the future for not learning the lessons of the past," Oksana Ivanovna explains.
Enthusiastic about studying the Russian language and literature, after finishing school, our heroine entered the Mogilev State Pedagogical University named after A.A. Kuleshov, and after completing her studies, she returned to her native school as a teacher.
Working - with quality
Today, Oksana Ivanovna remembers her first steps in the profession with a heartfelt thrill. She recalls the warm welcome from colleagues, the mischief of students, and her mother's wise advice. Whether it was preparing for classes, studying advanced experience, integrating it into the educational process, or participating in trade union life, our heroine did everything with pleasure.
Over time, Oksana Ivanovna was elected chairwoman of the Youth Council at the district organization of the trade union. In five years, she managed to build a system that helps young colleagues join the teaching community of the district and settle into their first jobs.
An equally important milestone in her life was the year 2021, when she took the helm of Secondary School No. 6. The young director bet on a blend of continuity and modern approaches to organizing the educational process. Under her leadership, the staff won the district competition for preparing the educational institution for the start of the 2022/2023 school year. Key milestones of this period included the school being named after the honored teacher of the BSSR Mikhail Porfiryevich Kostev and the opening of a pedagogical class.
Today Oksana Miroevskaya is the chair of the district organization of the Belarusian Union of Education and Science Workers, which includes 80 primary schools (a total of 4,972 union members). Standing on the defense of labor, socio‑economic rights and the legitimate interests of workers in the sector, the organization monitors compliance with labor legislation, occupational safety and health rules, provides legal support, material and social assistance, and regulates other matters.
In the role of delegate
In 2024, our heroine was elected as a delegate to the VII All‑Belarusian People's Assembly.
“Representing the interests of fellow citizens at the highest level is a great responsibility. This work
– Especially valuable, in my opinion, were the discussions carried out within the framework of the “School of an Active Citizen” project. It is pleasing that the youth are not indifferent to its future. They are interested in opportunities for professional realization, the development of creative potential, participation in the work of public organizations, and much more. The kids already have a civic stance, – notes the interviewee.
Speaking about the key priorities of the Belarus Socio‑Economic Development Program for 2026–2030, Oksana Miroe
