In September 2026, real wages rose by 7.4%.
BeltA, citing the weekly macro review of the Eurasian Development Bank (EDB), reports that the unemployment rate in Belarus has reached a new historical low. The figure fell to 1.9% in the third quarter, down from 2.1% in the second quarter.
Wage dynamics
Consumer demand in the country continues to be supported by the rise in real wages. According to EDB data, in September 2026 real wages increased by 7.4% year‑on‑year, whereas in August the growth was 8.1%. The increase in the base wage rate from September provided additional support to the incomes of public‑sector workers.
Growth in the public sector
Thanks to measures taken in the public sector, it was possible to maintain a leading growth rate – plus 8.3% year‑on‑year, which is above the average economic indicator. The EDB emphasized that maintaining the growth of real household incomes creates conditions for further expansion of consumer activity.
