In Belarus, transport tax rates may increase starting in 2027. The changes will affect owners of passenger and freight cars, motorcycles, trailers, and buses. The new amounts are provided for in a draft amendment to the Tax Code published on the National Legal Internet Portal.

For now, this is only a proposal; the final rates will be approved after the document is adopted.

How much will owners of passenger cars pay

For individuals, the transport tax amount will continue to depend on the vehicle's permissible maximum mass. For example, for a passenger car weighing up to 1.5 tonnes, they propose paying 80 rubles per year instead of the current 75 rubles.

The proposed rates are as follows:

  • Up to 1.5 tonnes: currently 75 rubles, from 2027 80 rubles.
  • More than 1.5 up to 1.75 tonnes: currently 99 rubles, from 2027 105 rubles.
  • More than 1.75

For vehicles of increased comfort, a tenfold rate of transport tax applies. For certain categories of motorcycles, scooters, and tricycles with an engine displacement of 800 cubic centimeters or more and an age of less than five years, a fivefold rate is provided.
