Tim Cook promoted the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8.

New Zealand branch of Samsung has found the full tagline of former Apple chief Tim Cook and recruited him for a Galaxy Z Fold8 smartphone advertisement as part of a playful advertising campaign coinciding with Apple's entry into the foldable phone market with the iPhone Duo. In the Samsung ad, they satirize Apple while simultaneously emphasizing their long history in the foldable smartphones segment.

Tim Cook, featured in the Samsung ad, actually works as a real estate agent. In the description of the YouTube ad video, marketers wrote: "Tim Cook has an announcement. And this time it concerns the Galaxy."

The timing chosen for releasing such a video was certainly not accidental. Apple introduced its first foldable smartphone, the iPhone Duo, this week, entering the segment that Samsung has held since releasing the original Galaxy Fold in 2019. The South Korean manufacturer built its recent marketing campaign "Welcome to the world of foldable smartphones" around this advantage, and Apple's appearance gives Samsung a new reason to emphasize its experience and opportunity to tease the competitor.
