The past seven days in the regional center were marked by the operational work of rescuers. The Brest City Emergency Situations Department summed up the results of its work from September 21 to 28. During the reporting period, three fires were recorded in the city. The fire damaged property in homes and buildings located on Kombinatovskaya, Galina Arzhanova, and writer Smirnov streets. Fortunately, there were no casualties — no one was injured in these incidents. At the moment, specialists are establishing the causes of what happened.

In addition to fighting fires, the city emergency department staff responded to 12 calls to assist the public and extinguish small blazes that did not develop into serious fires.

Since the beginning of 2026, 78 fires have occurred in Brest, claiming the lives of 6 people. Rescuers also report 31 cases of dry vegetation fires. The situation on the water remains alarming: since the start of the year, 6 people have died in the city's water bodies. These figures are a serious reason to once again remind residents of the importance of following safety rules.

To instill a culture of safety in the younger generation and to inform about the activities of the Belarusian Youth Public Organization of Rescuers-Firefighters (BMOOSP), the Ministry of Emergency Situations is launching a thematic campaign. From October 5 to 16, the "Youth for Safety" campaign will take place in Brest. The events are aimed not only at educating schoolchildren and students, but also at providing targeted social assistance to those in need. Rescuers urge Brest residents to be attentive to their own safety and not to stand aside from initiatives that help make our city calmer and more protected.
