Today in Zhdanovichi the new hypermarket “Materik” officially opened. The scale of the project is substantial: a giant covering 20,000 square meters with 728 parking spaces designed to accommodate shoppers from all over the city. Onliner journalists took a look at what was happening in the store on its first day of operation.
Once, the site was intended to host the first Leroy Merlin in Belarus. However, the project never materialized, and the construction site remained idle for five years until work resumed in 2025, this time under a new name. And now the large complex is ready to welcome customers.
Inside, shoppers can expect an impressive assortment—about 60,000 product items ranging from finishing materials and décor to construction tools and landscaping elements.
A notable difference from other chain stores is the significantly expanded pet supplies section, featuring many brands, as well as a noticeably larger selection of household chemicals (toothpaste, deodorants, and other everyday items are now available). Classic products remain in place: customers will still find a wide range of floor coverings (laminate, parquet, linoleum), wallpapers, and plumbing fixtures.
In addition to standard shopping, the site will offer a full range of useful services: cutting of plywood, particleboard and MDF, curtain tailoring, carpet overlocking, and 3D tile design.
The new “Materik” is located at 118 Timiryazev Street. It is open daily from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.
