Unified standard for school uniforms is planned to be created in the Union State

Belarus and Russia plan to develop an algorithm for creating a “Union” standard for schoolchildren’s clothing, BELTA reported to the press service of the State Committee for Standardization.

The event took place online under the leadership of First Deputy Chairman of Gosstandart Alexander Burak and Deputy Head of Roskachestvo Elena Saratceva, with participation of representatives of Gosstandart, BelGISS, as well as Roskachestvo and relevant technical committees on standardization of the Russian Federation.

The agenda of the meeting included the consideration of two issues: working out approaches to creating a standard for schoolchildren’s clothing within the Union State and agreeing positions on a draft amendment to the interstate standard on natural honey (GOST 19792-2017).

Speaking about the feasibility of developing a “Union” standard for schoolchildren’s clothing, Elena Saratceva noted that national standards are in force in Belarus and Russia, and there is good experience in their application. The requirements generally correspond to the modern level; in some aspects they are similar, while in others they differ. Nevertheless, their synchronization is possible and relevant, as light‑industry enterprises of both countries are part of cooperative chains, and work is underway on the Union platform to form a standard fund.

The algorithm for creating a “Union” standard for schoolchildren’s clothing was decided to be worked out in dialogue with all market participants: technical committees on standardization, manufacturers, certification bodies and testing laboratories, scientific institutions. The agenda of such a dialogue, which will take place in the form of a teleconference, will be determined by the parties in the near future. The event is scheduled for the end of September this year.

Alexander Burak emphasized that Belarusian light industry today takes an active role in improving state standards and searching for new opportunities for technology development in the sector.

The parties also confirmed their readiness to engage in dialogue to clarify positions on the draft amendment to GOST 19792‑2017. It is in the final stage of development. A meeting of industry technical committees on standardization will be held with the participation of regulators and other institutions. The main task is to justify the introduced innovations to reduce honey fraud and potential barriers to its supply. At the same time, it is important to have a testing base to determine the relevant indicators.

Following the working meeting, Alexander Burak called for strengthening the synergistic effect of joint work, promptly and comprehensively discussing emerging issues and making decisions that take into account the best quality indicators for consumers, including in innovative directions.
