On the M1 highway, officials from the Brest customs office stopped an IVECO truck in which they found goods worth half a million rubles. According to the documents, the vehicle was carrying automotive parts, but inside they found a wide variety of other items, ranging from musical instruments to expensive alcohol.
During the inspection of the cargo compartment, customs officers discovered about 3,800 units of various goods. Among them were musical instruments, perfume, animal feed, and premium alcohol without Belarusian excise stamps.
Customs officials found that a Russian entrepreneur had arranged the import of goods into Belarus under the pretext of personal purchases. To do this, the shipment was divided into smaller lots and then distributed among different people in Poland, who subsequently transported them across the border. In this way, the entrepreneur tried to evade customs duties.
The total value of the goods was estimated at about 500,000 rubles. The entire shipment was seized pending a court decision.
