On the day after the anniversary of the Carpathian Forest Workers' Day, workers visited the Kolkówska Forest District. This place is special: here the Pinchuk family works, for which the forest is not just labor but true wealth and matters of everyday life.

Kolkówska Forest District is one of the largest in the Petrykivsky forest region. Its area amounts to 1,057 hectares, by this figure it alone exceeds that of the Petrykivsky forest district. It is precisely here, among ancient spruce and birch groves, that Uladimir and Yhor Pincuk work. Uladimir Mikolaievich, born in the village settlement of Kapatkevychy, has already spent over 30 years in the forest. He began as a forester in the Syakeritsky forest district, later became a forest manager, master of the forest, and only ten years ago took up the position of forest district head. During this time he has become a true owner of his territory – one who knows each path and every tree in the forest. The job of a forest district head is not only protection of the forest from illegal logging and fires. This is a complex and multifaceted activity: organization of forest management, control over the sanitary state of plantings, planning of forest cuts, ensuring regeneration of clearings, conducting walks and anti-pollution measures. The forest district head is responsible for making sure that every tree taken for human needs is compensated by new plantings. He is both owner, protector, and ecologist in one capacity.

– "The forest is not just trees," said the forest district head. – It is a living organism that requires constant care and attention. If you work here out of heart rather than simply because you must, nothing will come of it. One must love the land and understand it. I am happy that my son felt this way. Love for the forest was passed down from Uladimir Mikolaievich to his son from childhood. As a boy, Yhor also walked in the forest with his father, learning to distinguish tree species, understanding the habits of animals and birds. These childish experiences matured into a conscious choice of life path. Yhor Uladimirovich is a young specialist. After graduating from the Gomel Polytechnic College in the specialty "technologist", in February 2025 he returned to his hometown to work alongside his father. Today his duties include participation in forest management, helping organize forestry activities, monitoring compliance with rules on timber harvesting, working with documentation, and also directly participating in the protection of forest areas from fires and poaching.

Father mainly taught me that: the forest is our wealth, and it must not just be used, but appreciated. I wanted my children and grandchildren to also be able to come here and see this beauty. Working in native regions is a great responsibility, but also great honor — it's shared by young specialists. I grew up in these areas, and I've seen firsthand how someone treats the forest with respect. Yuriy Uladimirovich explains. The Petrovka forest management notes that family dynasties are special honor for the industry. When a father passes on to his son not just knowledge, but love and responsibility for their work — this is the most reliable foundation for the future of forest management.
