In Mogilev Region, the month of safe labor in logging and woodworking operations, which began on September 1, continues. As part of the month, Alexander Titenkov, a labor safety inspector of the regional organization of the Belarusian Trade Union of Construction and Building Materials Industry Workers, as part of the mobile group of the Mogilev District Executive Committee, carried out public monitoring of compliance with occupational safety legislation requirements at the facilities of the Mogilev Forestry.

Logging is rightfully considered one of the most hazardous industries: tree felling, chainsaw work, heavy machinery, moving mechanisms, dust and gas pollution in the work area — all of these create constant threats to people's lives and health. Therefore, ensuring safe working conditions during logging operations is under special supervision.

During the mobile group's visit, special attention was paid to providing workers with special clothing and footwear, personal protective equipment directly ensuring labor safety. The inspectors also checked the availability of first-aid kits and the creation of sanitary and household conditions for forestry workers.

As the trade union inspector emphasized, the format of the mobile group's work of the district executive committee allows building a constructive dialogue with employers, rather than merely recording violations, because safety issues cannot be approached formally.

— The mobile group's visits are valuable because we see the real situation in actual working conditions. This allows us not only to promptly identify existing shortcomings but also to immediately obtain specific recommendations for their elimination, as well as consultations from specialized specialists on creating safe working conditions. Such an approach works on prevention, not on eliminating the consequences, — Alexander Titenkov stated.

The month of safe labor in the forestry and woodworking industry will continue until September 30.
